Affiliations
The Child’s Health Initiative partners with the Walnut Book Club to drive readership initiatives in schools and community libraries. We encourage children to embrace reading as a healthy alternative to vices and idleness. More than 100 schools in the Alimosho and Eti-Osa Local Government Areas of Lagos are members of the Walnut Book Club. We have designated days of the week when we visit the schools and share the love of reading with pupils. We have made a lot of social impact through the book club activities. We also teach children basic hygiene and etiquette, with many other activities including gardening and best environmental practices. All these are part of The Child’s Health Initiative’s advocacy for the total well-being of children. The physical and cognitive development of children is critical to a healthy society.
